4G LTE Proxy, what is it?

4G LTE Proxy, 3G proxy, and Mobile residential proxy are just a few of the names used to refer to proxies that provide the user with an IP address that has been issued by a certified mobile carrier that offers mobile internet connections.

These proxies provide the user with access to an internet connection through a physical mobile device that connects to the wireless infrastructure of the carrier or Mobile Internet Service provider (ISP). Depending on the ISP and the chosen plan of your proxy provider, you can experience connection speeds from 3G to 4G/LTE of up to 36Mbps.

How is a 4G LTE Proxy different from regular residential proxies?
The first major difference with a 4G LTE Proxy is the perception from internet services. The internet is being flooded with many companies that provide proxy services. Most provide their users with commercial IP addresses. These Ip addresses are prone to bans from sites such as Netflix, Instagram, etc. Other proxy providers go one step up and provide residential IP addresses. These IP addresses are a bit more resilient to detection and bans from internet service providers. However, due to the abuse of residential IPs from some clients, many internet services have started to begin scrutinizing these residential IPs with extra fervor. Since proxy providers usually purchase their residential IPs in blocks, certain providers use special software to assess a block of IPs and can eventually block that entire range or subnets of IP addresses.

A 4G LTE Proxy does not receive the same level of scrutiny as residential IPs, there is also far less abuse that originates from these IPs. The infrastructure behind 4G proxies is not as easy to set up and therefore fewer proxy providers offer this option. This creates a cleaner reputation for mobile IPs. Mobile IPs are assigned from a random pool of active non-proxy IPs being used by other customers, therefore a ban of an entire subnet or range is not an option for internet service providers. Many internet service providers even make special provisions for these mobile IPs, to ensure a great mobile experience.

4G/LTE residential IPs are associated with a mobile carrier. In the US, there are many popular mobile 4G ISPs such as AT&T, Verizon, Tmobile, Sprint etc.

Why would I need a 4G LTE Proxy?

If you are looking for high-quality IP addresses, highly resistant to service bans and blacklisting with a genuine residential marker. Mobile Residential IP addresses are your best bet. You will have the backing of a legitimate Service Provider since there are no commercial IP addresses that are 4G mobile, you will not be confused with a data center.

What are the advantages?

One great feature with 4G residential proxies is IP Switching. Although it is possible to have a static Mobile 4G IP address. The most common use case allows the user to get newly issued clean mobile 4g residential IPs.

An even more amazing feature available from many 4G private proxy providers is the ability to switch your IP on demand. Do you need a new IP for your online activities? You can request a new one directly from the pool of the carrier, this can be from a pool of hundreds of thousands of IP addresses, depending on the number the carrier assigned to the specific city where the 4G network is deployed.

Another advantage of a 4G LTE Proxy is that every 4G modem is associated with a carrier-based mobile phone number. Not all proxy providers will give you access to the phone number associated with your account, but if they do, you will have access to the number that allows you to send and receive SMS text messages.

The SMS number provided with a 4G account isn’t just a regular number you can buy off of the internet from a VOIP provider. Unlike most VOIP numbers, these numbers are capable of receiving text messages from shortcode numbers usually used by financial institutions.

What are the disadvantages?

With all the features of a 4G line, there are also a couple of disadvantages. A 4G LTE Proxy proxy is limited to about 36Mbps. This speed is usually the best case, especially if the proxy provider is in a secure data center, it may be blocked from high-speed internet signals. Average speeds may actually fall to 3G and average around 5Mbps. Your mileage may vary based on your proxy provider.

Depending on the internet plan used by your proxy provider, you may slow down to 2G internet speeds after you use up your allotted bandwidth provision. Ensure you ask your proxy provider about this policy.

If you are looking to switch your 4G IPs across multiple cities, it may not be possible to do this since the carrier supplies your mobile device with IPs in the same city. Your proxy provider can sometimes add mobile devices across multiple cities on a single network, so ensure you ask about their IP location availability.

Due to the infrastructural complexity of setting up a reliable 4G LTE Proxy system. The cost can be significantly greater than your regular commercial or even residential proxy. Prices have been known to approach $400 for 4G proxies that support IP switching. The price is not without value because many applications allow the user to increase their profits exponentially with these features
